LED TV backlight strips being replaced

LED TV repair

LED TVs are the most common sets in Indian homes, and the fault we see most often is in the backlight. The sound keeps playing but the screen turns dark, or one side of the picture becomes dim. We open the panel with care, replace the failed LED strips and check the power section that feeds them.

  • Sound but no picture
  • Dim screen or dark patches
  • Flickering or blinking picture
  • TV not switching on
  • Standby light blinking
  • Picture goes off after a few minutes

LCD TV repair

An older LCD TV that has served the family well is often worth repairing. Tracing a fault on an older set takes patience, and we are happy to put it in. We find what has actually failed and replace only that.

  • No display or white screen
  • Faded or wrong colours
  • Picture freezing or shaking
  • Lines across the screen
  • Power supply faults
  • Buttons or remote sensor not responding

Smart TV repair

A Smart TV is part television and part computer, so it can fail in either half. Sometimes the software is corrupted and the set never gets past the logo. Sometimes the memory or Wi-Fi section on the main board gives way. We load the correct software for your exact model and repair the board when the hardware is the cause.

  • Stuck on the start-up logo
  • Restarting again and again
  • Apps not opening or crashing
  • Wi-Fi not connecting
  • Very slow or hanging
  • HDMI or USB ports not working

Display and panel faults

Lines, bands, a half picture or a double image do not always mean the screen is finished. The cause may be a cable, the T-Con board or a connection on the panel. We check the less expensive possibilities first. If the panel itself has failed or is cracked, we give you the replacement cost and our honest view on whether it is worth doing.

  • Vertical or horizontal lines
  • Half screen or double image
  • Colour bands or patches
  • Cracked or broken screen

Power and main board repair

When a TV is completely dead, the power supply board is the first place we look. Voltage fluctuations and lightning are hard on these boards. Where a board can be repaired properly, we repair it. Where it has to be replaced, we fit a genuine company part for your model.

  • TV completely dead
  • Damage after a power surge
  • Switching off by itself
  • Clicking sound, no picture
  • Burning smell from the back
  • Inputs or ports not detected

Sound and speaker repair

A TV with a perfect picture and no sound is only half a TV. We start with the settings and connections, because that sometimes solves it on the spot. If the speakers or the audio section of the main board are at fault, we repair or replace them.

  • No sound at all
  • Very low volume
  • Crackling or buzzing
  • Sound cutting in and out

Common TV faults and what usually causes them

How our charges work

No two TV repairs cost the same. The charge depends on what has failed, the part your model needs, and the size of the screen. A fixed price list would be a guess, and guesses lead to arguments later.

So we do it the other way round. We discuss the issue with you first, explain what the repair involves, and begin only after you agree. This applies to every out-of-warranty TV we take up.

Keep these ready when you call

  • Brand and model number. You will find it on the sticker at the back of the TV.
  • Screen size. For example 32, 43 or 55 inches.
  • What the TV is doing. Does the standby light come on? Is there sound?
  • A photo or short video. It often tells our technician more than a description can.

Six habits that keep a TV out of the repair shop

Free advice from the repair bench. Many of the faults we see could have been delayed by one of these.

Use a stabiliser or surge protector

Voltage fluctuation is one of the biggest causes of power board failure. A good protector costs far less than a board.

Give the TV room to breathe

Leave a few inches of space behind and above the set. Trapped heat shortens the life of the backlight and boards.

Turn the backlight down a little

Running the picture at full brightness all day wears out the LED strips sooner. A slightly lower setting is easier on the eyes too.

Unplug during heavy lightning

Switching off with the remote is not enough. Pull out the power plug and the cable or dish connection.

Clean with a dry, soft cloth

Never spray liquid on the screen or press hard while wiping. Moisture and pressure both damage the panel.

Act on small signs early

A faint patch, a brief flicker or a slow start is easier and cheaper to fix now than after the TV stops completely.

A faulty TV does not fix itself. One call puts a technician on it.
